There are more benefits to choosing green cleaning solutions than just reducing waste and the toxic burden in your home. Choosing natural and organic products keeps harsh chemicals out of our waterways, which are shown to reduce the quality of drinking water and soil quality, and are harmful to aquatic ecosystems.

WHY GREEN CLEANING MATTERS
Many of the conventional cleaners that we use to clean our homes, our clothes, and our bodies contain ingredients that are not only harmful to our health, but are also damaging to our local environment long after they go down the drain. Even so called “eco-friendly” branded products may not be what they seem. Ingredients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and ammonia can build up in large quantities in waterways, causing an overgrowth of some organisms while wiping out others. In short, they upset the delicate balance of our ecosystems.
Our selection of ingredients is carefully considered to be as low impact and non-toxic and as possible. We believe in the power and strength of nature without having to sacrifice quality or cleaning performance.
EVERY INGREDIENT MATTERS
At Eralume, you will never find any hidden chemicals, synthetic ingredients, parabens, sulphates, or palm oil in our formulations. Our selection of cleaning products was designed with your health and the health of our planet in mind. In addition to our low waste packaging, ingredients are selected with the environment in mind at every step of the supply chain. This is why we choose organic, fair trade, organic, and biodegradeable wherever possible. Two of our star ingredients are castile soap and floral waters.
Castile soap is an eco-friendly cleaning powerhouse made from plant oils (olive, coconut, hemp, or jojoba oils just to name a few), whereas most conventional detergents are petroleum derived. It is free from synthetic foaming agents, antibacterial agents (i.e. triclosan), and is vegan and biodegradable. Strong enough for a stain remover and gentle enough for foaming hand soaps.
Floral waters are a by-product of essential oil distillation, where the steam used to extract the oils from the plant is recaptured. Adding essential oils to liquid products means they will sit on top and need a good shake before every use, while floral water integrates beautifully and still provides a great scent. We use both in our product lines, part of our commitment to moving toward zero waste. Floral waters are all natural, non-toxic, and biodegradable.
